Find yourself coming up with every excuse as to why you CAN'T get to the gym?
Turns out...you're not alone. In fact, you're in the majority. As a full-time Personal Trainer, I sit down with a lot of people that need help getting into a fitness routine and are badly in need of a life change. Some of them have dangerously high blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, OR.. all four and more. These people have every reason to workout. And yet still...they make excuses. Well, I'm here to invalidate your excuses so that maybe next time you go to make one, you think twice! 1. I don't have time. Okay, so you're crazy busy with work..right? Have one million projects to complete and never enough time to do it all? Yeah..but you don't have ONE hour to spare? One hour that could be the difference between being able to continue working or being out with a health related issue? Honestly this one always comes down to HOW HIGHLY you prioritize your health and/or goals. I always replay the phrase "If it's important to you, you'll find a way. If not, you'll find an excuse". And it's true. There is ALWAYS time to make. Work long days? Get up and get to the gym before. Or workout at home before. Even a minimum of THREE hours per week can make a huge difference for your health. Looking for an at-home workout program that will help you get results with less hassle? Be on the look out for my Healthy at Home program that covers 8 weeks of general fitness. 2. I don't have the money. This is probably the most frequent excuse I hear, and also the SILLIEST in my opinion. This is another case of "what is important to you"- I have tons of people that come into the gym holding a 10 dollar coffee and talk about how they went shopping that weekend or went out to eat at three different restaurants. If you've cut out all the excess and you truly still can't afford even a basic gym membership, you can STILL workout at home. If you really feel as if you know nothing about fitness and that's preventing you from getting into the gym... INVEST IN A TRAINER. I can point you to hundreds of happy clients that will tell you it is one of the BEST investments you can ever make. You're not just investing in the trainer, you're investing in YOUR HEALTH. Make it a priority and you will not regret it. 3. I don't have the knowledge. Again, this is another one that is SILLY but that I hear all the time. The person is afraid to come into the gym and workout because they don't want to look "silly" if they don't know how to use equipment or what to do. Honestly, with the abundance of fitness related resources nowadays..this shouldn't even make this list. Personal Trainers/Health Professionals should always be your first go-to when it comes to questions on fitness, but even if that isn't an option for you there is this wonderful thing called SOCIAL MEDIA and the INTERNET. There are tons of online resources that will supply you with how-to's and give you guidance when it comes to getting started in the gym. INCLUDING THIS WEBSITE! That's why I do what I do. To help anyone who doesn't know where to start. Need any guidance? Shoot me an email anytime. No charge for advice!
